Crawling along the Infinite Road

It’s been a while since my last post, and I am sorry to report I haven’t got much done.

What I have managed to do is finish off 3 of the Infinity Operation Icestorm models. They have actually been completed since the beginning of April, I have just been waiting to get chance to photo them with the decent camera rather than just my phone.

Starting down the Infinite Road

Mobius Strip II – M.C.Escher 1963

With recently picking up Infinity I have been looking around the internet for the usual suspects of digital medium with an Infinity content. First and most obvious was the Corvus Belli Infinity website and forums. Then I stumbled across DataSphere, a fan site with a decent amount of interesting content, and it’s associated forum. From there I have started listening to some podcasts, I am currently working my way through Totally Crit, which I am enjoying listening too.

Belated Happy New Year! (also Merry Christmas)

I haven’t posted anything on my blog in ages, so what happened to me over the last few months?

Simply put, being a Dad. I have gone from the being able to do stuff while my son sleeps/sits on a playmat stage to constantly having to chase them around stopping them crawling places they shouldn’t, playing with things they shouldn’t and tidying up after them. Basically I am using my son as an excuse for having no hobby time whatsoever.

That said this last week I picked up some models for what is probably the first time since October. What’s more is that they aren’t even for a game system I currently play… WH40K. Continue reading

What’s the strangest thing your wife has caught you doing?

What’s the strangest thing your wife has caught you doing? Wargaming hobby related of course!

I am sure I am not the only one to have cut my finger with a craft knife, or stabbed myself with a pin vice, or even super glued a couple of fingers together*. This sort of thing usually ends up amusing the wife in some way, if she finds out. However over the weekend I achieved a new level of the standard wifely exclamation:

“What on earth have you been doing?!”

Tournament Report at The Outpost; Sheffield.

My self imposed painting challenge for September has been to paint up enough models to enable me to field two fully painted 35 point Khador lists. The reason for that was so I could play at a tournament I went to on Sunday. I admit I haven’t had chance yet to take pictures of my models, so that’ll mean another blog post is still to come, this post is more of a mini tournament report. Continue reading

Panic Stations!!!

Feels like a while since my last post, geez its over 2 weeks!

Unfortunately I have not been up to much hobby wise. Played a couple of games of WM in the league running at the gaming club I go to. Although I have been using Old Witch rather than Butcher1 for a change. I have enjoyed the change of play style between the two loads.

The rest of my time has been spent playing with footage from my GoPro, I have been out kayaking (twice in fact) for the first time since my son was born and although I have had the GoPro since before he was born this is the first time using it in anger so to speak. I had some corrupt file issues which I seem to have spent a lot of time trying to rectify to no avail. However my second trip out with it gave better results, although not the greatest videos you’ll ever see lol.

Anyway this is my Wargaming Hobby Blog not my paddling blog. So what’s on my painting table at the moment? Continue reading

X-Wing: Acronym and Jargon Busting

“Understand you must, if a great X-Wing pilot, you will be”

Yoda_SWSB_small

When you are browsing the X-Wing related forums it becomes immediately clear that squad building seems to have a language all of its own. As a casual player I find this a bit annoying but I guess this is mostly because it takes me a little longer to understand what the original author is talking about, and usually requires me looking through some cards (and this thread is useful for that).

This is my attempt to try and both help you and myself out a little by trying to compile a list of all the acronyms and jargon.

Any mistakes, or something missing add it to the comments below and I shall integrate it into the tables. Continue reading
