Infinity Terrain: TT Combat Objective Room

ttcombat_objective_room_01

I thought I would write-up a little post about some terrain i did quickly for the tournament I went to back around Halloween. It was bought on a whim really, as i currently don’t have any gaming space at home…yet. The TO for the Halloween event asked if any of us had Objective Room scenery that we could bring. So I volunteered to get this built for the event rather than build and paint my own lists 😉 As I was pressed for time, I thought I would try to get it built and painted to an OK standard as fast as I could.

A look back at 2016, and being a SMART arse!

Its that time of year where we set silly goals and objectives for ourselves over the coming year. Most people chose to lose weight or get fitter. I lost 18kg last year and started running – promptly put 3kg back on over the Christmas & New Year period mind you (neither were actually New Year resolutions). But these are the resolutions of ordinary mortals. We (assuming you’re reading this blog because you have an interest in wargaming) of course have much more far fetched and unobtainable objectives to set – like completely painting an army, or painting all our unpainted models, etc etc. So what am I planning to fail to achieve this year?

Halloween Jack

I was supposed to be out playing a game of Guild Ball tonight, unfortunately my opponent couldn’t make it. So instead, I managed to get an evening of painting with no distractions.

My proxy Infinity HVT mentioned in my last post was the model of choice, Halloween Jack.

Here he is, ink wash still drying on his jacket.

The base needs tidying up, but other than maybe another highlight of the pumpkin head, to define the facial features more, I think he’s done.

October Infinity Update

Today’s blog post is less about painting progress and more about painting anticipation. I’m excited because I pre-ordered myself a copy of “Painting Miniatures from A to Z, Masterclass Volume 2” by Ángel Giráldez today.

When I first started dabbling with Infinity at the start of 2015 I pre-ordered Volume 1. If you look at my other painted models on this blog I think you’ll see that pre-infinity I had a fairly dark painting style, especially in my choice of colours. Infinity with its bright clean look seemed rather daunting. So when I realised there was a painting guide being produced by Corvus Belli’s in house painter, I figured a look behind the scenes would be an excellent idea. Continue reading

Painting Experiments: Gold Non Metallic Metal

I recently got two Non Metallic Metal Paint sets for my birthday. It is a painting technique that I have never really tried, painting a metallic surface using solid non metallic colours by simulating the reflections of the metallic surface. It does look good when painted well, but looks off if painted poorly. This is my first real attempt at the technique and I thought I would post my thoughts on the two sets as I use them. Sounds like a review, but that implies I know what I’m talking about. No, this is more of a reflection of the NMM paint sets by an inquisitive hobbyist. Oh come on, you must have seen that pun coming at some point!

Why did i pick these two sets?

Birthday Hobby Haul

I was another year older on Sunday, perhaps not another year wiser though. My family tend to ask me if i want anything in particular and usually the first thing to spring to mind is the latest shiny metal toy (increasingly plastic/resin these days too). However its getting harder and harder to suggest models when invariably they just end up sat in a box partially completed. I feel bad about that, for example last year I was bought the Khador Warjack Ruin, and its still sat partially assembled in its box. In my head its verging on disrespectful to not complete a model that was bought as a present (Note to self: finish that model).

So this year I didn’t ask for a model. No, this year I asked for…
