Some ‘newspaper coverage’ for the Rogue Games Blood Bowl League. The League started on the 29th October, if you’re quick you could maybe join in too if you live in the Leyland area, pop in and get involved – or register your interest on the FB group.

Oh no, yet another game system to get involved in! There is a Blood Bowl league about to start up at Rogue Games and I’ve been talked into taking part (admittedly probably not that hard – say about 10 minutes chatting?). Now, I have a love/hate relationship with Blood Bowl, I can’t really explain why – maybe its just because I’m crap at the game, or perhaps I just lament the death of my players that I’ve nurtured from their debut games through to being at the top of their profession too much 😉
Either way Blood Bowl 2019 – I’m playing! And I’m playing with Chaos Chosen Undecided – unless I change my mind (again). I have recently assembled a team I have owned since my last dabble in Blood Bowl, and they are gorgeous miniatures. The alternative Chaos team by Willy Miniatures, which has been sat around untouched for a criminal amount of time.
Warcry has proved to be a staple of a Tuesday evening’s gaming at Rogue Games. For a few weeks now, there has been talk about getting our Warbands questing for glory. A week last Tuesday night (yes its taken that long to get this written) Andy and myself embarked our warbands upon their Quests. In a characteristically last minute unorganised manner I had set up my campaign roster moments before leaving for the store, and quickly printed it, using GW’s Varanscribe.
This is a quick write up about my first Warcry tournament which was hosted by Rogue Games in Leyland. Over the last week or so I’ve been frantically putting paint on models to allow me to play in the event on Saturday afternoon. There was no painting requirement, I just prefer to play with painted models, especially in events. I played 3 very good games of Warcry as part of the event with my Splintered Fang warband.
Today I introduced my son to something new, the local games store! This is something that has recently opened up in Leyland; Rogue Games, and its only five or so minutes from home. I have only really just started using it. Its a really nice shop, nice and clean with a modern open plan feel to it.
I’d finished work early and as the Mrs was off out to celebrate her friend’s birthday, me and the lad got out from under her feet while she was getting ready. I took Josh down to Rogue Games with some X-Wing models, hoping we’d be able to play a game.
In the past at New Year I’ve looked back over the year and looked at what I’ve achieved verses what I set out to do. I’m not going to bother this year, I know I never got anywhere near painting/building/playing what I hoped to over 2018.
So what are my aims for 2019?
Well, I’m going to keep this short and simple and hence achievable!
Finish the Adeptus Titanicus models.
Play some games.
Build some terrain.
Told you, short and simple. Maybe in 2020 I can do a New Year post and not be embarrassed. So how about showing you the hobby work done over the Christmas holiday…
I have been thinking about scale recently, mostly because of the upcoming release of Adeptus Titanicus and reading some discussions about how big the titans ‘should’ be lol. However it is also because I want to build up some terrain, add some interesting items to bases, that kind of thing – and not just for Titanicus, but across all my game systems. So I played about with a spreadsheet to work out the dimensions of various items at various scales. I’ve actually had this spreadsheet for a couple of months now, but never got round to typing this up. I figured somebody out there might find it useful too, so is here my blog post about model scale. Time for something different – no I’m not starting a Podcast, or creating a You Tube Channel* – I’ve treated myself to a 3D printer for my birthday. If there is anything I am good at it is finding distractions from current projects, and this has gotta be the mother of all distractions – or at least the rapid prototyper of all distractions. Its that time of year again, my lad’s birthday. Another year closer to kicking my backside at tabletop games. He already sometimes “plays” X-Wing with me – he seems to be turning into a Star Wars fan, even though he has never seen the films lol. Like last year, I made and decorated a birthday cake for him. This is this year’s handiwork:
If your partner ever questions why you waste you time on silly toy soldiers, just knock up some thing like this using your hobby skills and watch them eat their words. Or at least your cake 😉
