Warcry: Gnarlwood Terrain #5

I broke out the trusty airbrush again. To try and quickly tackle the parts of the terrain I could not target with the rattlecans by themselves. In other words the bamboo platforms and the old bones.

The images below are taken on a bright sunny day, so the bone greys have all turned an almost uniform colour. It isn’t really like this in person. You can see in the first pic, I have left the first experimental tree as is. Once everything is painted I might go back and bring the bone back to match the rest of the set. The tree and bamboo isn’t too dissimilar – all trees are different right?

The bamboo platforms and palisades all got a spray of VGA Desert Yellow, 72.763 (EG link). I did the bamboo first as I thought there would be more chance of over spraying the bones, if I did the bamboo second. The only piece this did not work out on was the shelter from the Sundered Fate set where you can see the bamboo took a hit from the bone white – see below left.

The bones had three layers involved:

The idea being to use the airbrush to fill to cover but not necessarily totally hide the rattlecan work, and end up with a highlighted aged bone. I might have gone too far, but I’m hoping a wash will tone it back down.

I’ve got some more work to do yet. BUT. Oh, the irony of writing this…

I have to admit that I have surprised myself at the sudden surge of motivation for Warcry hobbying. Its side-lined my excitement for the slightly delayed Epic revamp
