About 4 years ago I wrote a blog post about assembling my Imperial Nobility Bloodbowl team (link). Now I have been playing in a Bloodbowl league for a little while now (The Chorbowl League), and while I will be the first to admit that I do not get on with this game, I do enjoy taking part in the league – that’s a real laugh. While it feels great to win and crap to lose, its teh taking part and playing games that I’m interesting in these days. Lovely, but why am I writing a blog post about these ‘Imp Nob’ guys then?
Well they are the team I am currently using in the league, and I am getting a bit of a reputation for not getting even a Bloodbowl team painted. So far I have failed to paint a Vampire team and a Black Orc team and I am half way through this season and still not finished painting the Nobs.
I did have to make some extra linemen and sort out an Ogre before my first match though. That’s what this post is about.
Now I am a fussy bugger when it comes to my models – maybe that’s why I fail to complete an army/team/battlegroup/faction/etc – in small model count games I like it where each model is an individual. In the case of Bloodbowl I like it when each player is different, and with many (if not all) non-GW teams that is easily done. The GW team is limited by what can fit on the sprue. On the sprue there is a Thrower, Blitzer, 2x Bodyguards, and 2x Linemen. The previous post went about assembling two sprues of models as individual as I could as this would give me the full allotment of Throwers, Blitzers and Bodyguards, but I only had 4 linemen. However I did need more linemen, as my starting roster had 6 on the team, and any journeymen I’d need would also need to be linemen. So I decided to use a third sprue (bought from eBay) to build four bodies, and simply head swap to make each model ever so slightly different from each other team member.
As the linemen all have 2 feathers on their helms, all that’s really happened is the swap and chop feathers.
Head 1 – I removed the two feathers from the female line(wo)man’s helmet as well as the Blitzer’s four feathers, and simply glued the two feathers on the Blitzer’s helmet instead of the four feathers.

Head 2 & 3 – took the Bodyguard’s heads and chopped off a feather to take them down to two feathers each. I did my best to disguise the removal of the feather on the back of the plume. I am sure no one will notice the cut mark once covered in paint on the rear of the head.

The fourth head is just the male lineman’s head, I just have to make sure it doesn’t go on the standard build’s body. To do that I just lined up the team and then swapped heads around till I found a unique head/body combination.

Now the Bloodbowl box did come with an Ogre, but I wanted an Ogre that fits in with the team’s aesthetics. I did consider converting the GW model, and I was looking for suitable parts/STLs to either chop up or print. While looking for puffy sleaves, plate armour, and feathered helms i stumbled across Vae Victus Miniatures’ Ogre Mercenaries (MyMiniFactory link).
Here he is, at the end of the first half of my first game sat in the Injured Box at the side of the pitch. I actually think he spent half of the first half in their too 😦

Thanks for reading, hopefully back in anther post soon getting paint on these guys. As usual here is an affiliate link for Element Games. Please consider using the link if you’re online hobby shopping. If you do use Element Games you can also get double element crystals using code: DAV615
